Beat the Blue Monday Blues! Why you should pay us a visit this winter

January can be tough, what with the recent snow and chilly weather many of us are more than feeling the after effects of the festive season! With Blue Monday looming, known as the saddest day of the year, what if we told you there's a simple way to escape the winter blues and transport yourself to a tropical paradise bursting with warmth and wonder!

Our tropical houses are a balmy 24 degrees all year round, offering a feast for the senses with the sights, sounds and smells of a lush rainforest. It's the perfect place to unwind, spot incredible creatures like the blue morpho butterfly and enjoy a moment of tranquility in this colourful and calming environment.

And of course no visit is complete without popping into Lottie's Coffee Lounge for your favourite seasonal treats!

While you might think to save a visit to the zoo for a sunnier day out,  there are plenty of reasons to wrap up and head to your local wildlife park during the colder months! See our winter opening times here before you visit!

  • Go Slow - less people visiting means more time to explore and a more intimate experience with the animals - don't forget your camera!
  • Learn more - we still have our daily programme of amazing keeper talks and encounters! You might see some fascinating winter behaviours and enjoy enrichment activities designed specifically for the colder climate
  • Cosy up indoors - spend more time exploring our indoor enclosures and spaces, from the beauty of the butterfly and bird houses to all the fun of the activity centre - and our onsite cafes offer a welcome escape from the cold
  • Green bathe - take a stroll along the nature trail and woodland walk. It's well proven that time spent in green spaces leaves us feeling refreshed and rejuventated!
  • Support Conservation - your admission fee helps us support vital conservation projects both here at the park and at our local conservation sites where we're protecting native species a little closer to home

So, this winter ditch the doom and gloom and head to the zoo! You might just discover a new appreciation for our incredible animals and find yourself feeling a whole lot brighter!
