Samia ricini, the eri silkmoth, is a member of the family Saturniidae which includes giant silk moths. It's name comes from the host plant it uses for for feeding its caterpillars - castor oil, Ricinus communis - which is a very poisonous plant!
Did you know - we are hoping to breed these here at the park and you can breed these at home too using privet as a host plant!
