Summer Bat Night!

On Friday 25th July, a small team from the South Yorkshire Bat Group came to survey the Tropical Butterfly House for wild bats on site.

In total we had 11 attendees and during the survey we managed to record 3 types of bats, which is great news, as we have only ever seen the Common Pipistrelle here before!

We recorded the Soprano pipistrelle P.pygmaeus and the Noctule Nyctalus noctule and the Common pipistrelle P.pipistrellus.

We are hoping to do another survey later in the year and if all goes to plan, we will start to have Bat Walks here at the Tropical Butterfly House. In the meantime we hope you enjoy this clip of the bats showing off for us in the Wilderness Walkthrough wallaby enclosure!
Thanks again to the South Yorkshire Bat Group for such a successful night!
