Meet our new arrivals!

This week, Abi and Jack welcomed two incredible new iguana babies to their new home here at the Tropical Butterfly House.

As many of our regular visitors may know, we sadly lost our two resident iguanas, Iggy and Jimmy earlier this year. They were a huge part of our Butterfly House family and we are excited to see their tropical habitat filled with the pitter-patter of feet once again.

Our yet-to-be-named newcomers are both Green iguanas (Iguana iguana), native to Central and South America and parts of the Caribbean. They are still juveniles and so we’re yet to be certain if they might be boys or girls.

The duo are settling in quietly behind the scenes in quarantine in our hospital before being introduced into their lush new surroundings. We want to ensure they feel completely at home before they make their grand debut, but you can expect to see them exploring their new habitat and eventually basking on top of the waterfall in the coming weeks and months.

As they get used to their new home, keep an eye out in butterfly house during your next visit to see if you can spot them!
